you’re truly one of the best “shopping rec” newsletters out there on any platform imo 💗 I always walk away with tons of ideas, even for the stuff I already own!! I have an abalone inlay tray I thrifted last spring just like the one here (oval instead of rectangular) and I use it for jewelry, never even thought abt using it for party snacks. Have felt much the same as you describe re, reading and writing newsletters lately but I loved reading this, so it’s a helpful perspective. Ty for being a soft landing space rn and sending you good vibes and great finds 💗
I read this yesterday and legitimately teared up - how so so so kind of you to take the time to say such wonderful, ego boosting things to me! It means a lot to have you as a reader and thrills me that this space has inspired you to get creative with what you have 😭
I mean, I know how long it takes me to do my lil hella casual newsletter, so when I think abt the time that must be going into yours, I am amazed!!! I am terrible at having people over but if I do, I am def pulling the tray out of its spot and plonking some fun cookies on it 🐚🐚
Glenn, you have the most amazing taste! I'm drooling over your picks - and I barked with laughter at the ciggie display! I'm going to a vintage fair on Saturday, where I plan to hopefully find a bunch of fun things for Xmas presents for my fam.
I usually do a huge amount of decorating for Xmas, but we're headed out of town this year, so I decided to skip it. Fuck it! I'll go overboard next year.
BTW, I got a bunch of subscribers from your referrals, and just wanted to say THANK YOU. I'm new to Substack, but not new to blogging, and that's the type of kindness and community I can get behind. Hang in there. <3
I am personally very deep in going overboard on decorating in hopes to feel something lol but yay for vintage fairs and yay for new subscribers! I genuinely love your perspective and truly unique point of view in a space that can often feel like an echo chamber - I would also very much like to raid your closet hehe
I want to give the faux cigarettes made with pretzels and Oreo ash a try! I met Drew Carey at Disney in 2000 when I was 10, and he was very nice. Thanks for sharing beauty during this tough time.
I, too, have wanted to make these - maybe this is our year?! Every time I see them on social media people go nuts for them. Also very pleased for the report that Drew Carey is a solid human. Ty for reading ✨
As someone who is also years deep into 90% familial estrangement and loves Chinese food Xmas (it makes me feel like I’m living in a movie hehe) I feel seen by this post! Traditional holiday decor is low key v triggering for me, but this post really inspired me to maybe dive into more pagan aspects of decorating and not shying away from still making this time magical and special in my own way. These boards were so inspiring! Like shells during winter??? Damn you got me
I totally get where you're coming from with traditional holiday decor being triggering as someone who left a very wacky religion but I have really tried to not let it ruin a time of year that's really just meant to be cozy!
This whole post made me happy which is a hard task these days… thank you for using your platform for good and also providing us with the absolute coolest roundup of homegoods maybe ever?
invite me over when you do the cigarette tower
me too please
you will be upset when you discover they are all menthols YUM!
nvm I’ll bring my own tower
YOLO!
😎
I would honestly love an abalone-only gift guide. Fave material especially in homewares <3
Noted! 🫡 got one more gift guide in the pipeline!
So proud of you for taking the leap with the paywall!!!! Also we should def all start smoking 😂 this collection was perfection, as always!
ty bb!
