If I wasn’t already before, I’m definitely sitting here wondering “Am I this vibe? No, no this one. Ok, maybe both. Maybe more?”

This was a perfect depiction of how I know many of us feel. Your note: “Feeling pressure to hide the ugly, messy parts that don’t fit a moodboard has led us down a path of magnified insecurities” hit me right in the feels, and I wish we all spoke about this truth more.

Right?! And to think we all used to complain about people taking pictures of their dinner plates - what I would do to go back to those more authentic, slightly messy days of the Instagram of yore....

ok yeah wow.. felt this one in my damn gut!! So many vibes, I’m honestly envious of people who have nailed their ‘aesthetic’ enough to brand themselves on it because I dabble in like 7…

I think we must both embrace dabbling in seven aesthetics! The limit does not exist! Maybe this is the next vibe shift we need to start!

Friggin nail on the head. I have been so salty lately seeing people build a brand (personal or in the literal sense) at the expense of tapping into one ~vibe~ and boxing themselves in. I don't see myself in any one thing either! And then I remember some people are legit afraid to share what they like that is not outside of the vibe, and that is why we see the same buckets of vibes. It's comfy there. But as an unfortunately Tik Tok savvy soul, I do believe the one size fits all influencer reckoning is coming. I am very close to coming back to social media and just go about posting like an adult show and tell. This is what I like today! This is what I made! This is what I am cooking! Please keep sharing your likes and whims because it motivates folks like me to also share, figure out who the f I am, and hope someone engages because they care. Because I do in fact care - and want you to buy that mushroom hat!!

I love this energy and I'm very much on board with "adult show and tell" - it makes me wonder if there's a new social media that has yet to bubble to the surface where this will be more of a possibility or if enough of us fight back against the Instagram capitalism algorithm if we can make it a space to once again share "the little things"

I have added the mushroom hat to cart....but have yet to purchase...lol

I love that you’re thinking through all this and I would totally embrace the vibe shifting thing. I feel like it’s healthy - and why photo dumps are the latest Instagram trend. I think I get caught up more (especially when it comes to decorating my home) in not really knowing my vibe and then getting stuck doing too much research and then just give up. I’ve lived in my house for 2.5 years and have yet to hang up anything on my walls!! But maybe I just need to mix and match.

Also - I totally want to start a collection of vintage ceramic Christmas trees.

I feel you on the home decorating front and Pinterest makes creative projects both a blessing and a curse. I get so wrapped up into wondering what's really "me" and what I won't get tired of in six months that I never end up completing my vision. Hang stuff on your walls! Put up wallpaper! Get kooky curtains! We must fight the uncertainty monster that social media has made us!

I LOVE vintage ceramic trees - they have so much personality and would look so nice in a little forest vignette during the holidays. I am fully supportive of this as new holiday tradition!

Wait cuz I just got so self conscious of my decorating style this week. Especially when it comes to artwork. I'm envious of people who can hold off on consuming like crazy and just wait for the piece that fits their vibe. My bedroom has prints of oil portraits, the poster from when you and I saw Emma in theaters, a random painting of a deer, and a quote from 90 Day Fiance in sexy type. It suddenly feels very juvenile to me. WHERE AM I GOING NEXT?
