Wearing It & Wanting It with Meredith
secondhand and vintage dressing with guest curator, meredith dozier
Happy Thursday, friends!
This week I’m passing the keyboard over to one of my closest, most cherished friends of 20 years, Meredith. While I’ll let her have the honor of giving some of our friendship backstory, I’d like to sing her praises as she is one of the most creatively talented and supremely gifted people I am lucky to have as chosen family. She has a sharp, curated eye for good things and I am forever excited to see what she will wear to a function. As a fellow secondhand and vintage lover, I’ve asked her to share what she’s been wearing and loving lately, along with her current secondhand wishlist.
I’ll be back this weekend with a special vintage/secondhand bridal and wedding guest round-up as it was requested by almost a dozen of you!
Until then,
Xo,
G
Hey Trash Heads! (do you guys like that fanbase name I came up for us?)
(just joking)
Hi, y’all! I’m Meredith, I sat in front of Glenn in freshman history in 2005 and, as an avid doodler, couldn’t help but notice she had a slamming set of markers (these). We became friends by exchanging colored pens and stories of the unrelenting drama that comes with being embedded in our respective churches’ youth programs. Oh my god and we loved fucking around on the computers during the graphic design class we took junior year.
Glenn also told me she and her sister would fill up a huge cart at Savers thrift store and shop for hours. I was like, “um, I’m 15 and trying to be popular rn, smoking weed out of a can and going to Goodwill is kind of my differentiator?” Not really — I was a truant, not an asshole. I sensed that Glenn was her own kind of cool, and to be Glenn’s friend is to watch her catch on to her own coolness with every passing era — she has had many of them, as all the best people do.
Anyway, the reason I’m here is because I love a good find and I can match Glenn’s stamina at the thrift store. We’re looking at a 90 minute shop depending on square footage. If we’re talking Savers San Jose, it’s two hours and a commitment to Falafel’s Drive-In afterwards.
Now that you’re caught up on the lore, onto the finds.
Glenn kindly asked me to guest post here and for weeks I’ve agonized over what it is I should share. I landed on showing you a few recent fits and a few finds I’ve got my eye out on secondhand sites with some intermittent yapping about why I’ve shared an item. Hope u enjoy.
WEARING: Patch Magic quilted jacket. I bought my floral quilted jacket by Patch Magic from an estate sale, and it’s a year-round wear for me. It’s a great second layer for a summer evening or layered with a sweater in cooler months. All of their jackets are reversible, too!
WEARING: Thermal shorts from Jockey for Her that I cannot recommend enough. The texture, the color, the thickness which does not show p*nty lines — I love them so much. Some say playing with proportion is the best way to add intrigue to a summer outfit, but I argue that a somewhat ridiculous, thinning ringer tee is just as charming.
WEARING: Going to a wedding and have agonized over what to wear after striking out hard on Rent the Runway. Enter this minty sheer number I thrifted years ago. Linking a few others in the same vein.
WEARING: The woman who sold me this shirt said this was a vintage test t-shirt for a t-shirt maker but I think she made it herself. Either way, I got a great shirt, and so can you, because it’s very DIY-able. Most of the below finds are from this insane eBay seller with an incredible collection of vintage iron-on transfers.
WEARING: I wore this for a festival and thrifted all of it! That always feels good. Hot August Nights is a car show and legal drag racing event in Reno and they have made some pretty good merch over the years.
WEARING: A terry cloth dress and the Tierra top from Compost Clothes, and as the name suggests, it’s made from 100% compostable materials, down to the thread. I’m eyeing their Essential skirt next.
THE WANTS
WANTING: I saw a Daily Drills selling polyester “silky resort pants” for
$115 …………………. Am determined to find something comparable! Love that the Jones NY option is a twofer with the matching top. The avocado/lilac ones are also a 30” inseam woooooo let’s go tall girls!
WANTING: I would also like to have a second option for a summer shoe as my Birkenstocks are begging for a day off.
WANTING: I have a mental illness gray electric blanket on my bed so my two rescue cats can always sleep in comfort, and I’m looking for something to go over it. I’m mostly cruising around on Poshmark because those sellers are HUSTLING and usually have great prices to keep inventory moving along (I think).
WANTING: An Anne Klein belt with charms. I’ve flirted with purchasing one of these for too damn long. They’re kind of like microdosing Glenn’s chainmail from last week.
That’s all, T Heads!
Thanks for looking and big thanks to Glenn for allowing me to do this!
Leave lots of posi feedback so she asks me back

my eyes are barely uncrusted and i bought the green corduroy paisley coat. i’m not even sure if it will fit but I couldn’t stop myself
Meredith, I think you have great style, because it reminds me of mine 💅 good tip about the Jockey shorts. I love their French cut Elance bikinis.
