Happy Weekend, Friends and fellow Trash Heads✨
It’s officially November, which no doubt means your feeds, timelines, sponsored ads and commercial breaks have immediately become a flood of gluttonous gift guides, deliciously delectable deals, and mouth-watering must-haves as late stage capitalism takes center stage for its annual final act. And while “new” doesn’t always equal “bad”, the majority of things marketed to us this time of year are often times poorly made, overly packaged, and destined to end up in a dumpster by June.
Without diving too deep, the artificially intelligent robo brains of Google tell me the rough breakdown (just for Americans) is:
🗑️ BIG YIKES 🗑️
This space has never been about becoming the most perfect eco-conscious-picture-picture-waste-free-girl-boss. That whole “no ethical consumption blah blah under capitalism blah blah” is unfortunately stupidly true which is why I’m just over here trying to do better and pass my knowledge and finds onto you, which I hope you will pass on to your friends and so on and so forth.
Consider buying small shop, handmade, and secondhand for the holidays. I promise it’s not weird!
All November and December I’ll be sharing my favorite secondhand and vintage finds I think also double as incredibly special gifts or are perfect additions for hosting a memorable holiday shindig. Let me know in the comments if there’s someone specific you’re shopping for!
Despite being a millennial that has been scared out of posting on IG, I’ll be doing additional vintage round-ups every week in my stories as to not clog your probably-already-clogged inbox - you can follow along here and we can all be friends and I can step through the cringe of being perceived on the internet - yay!
Now enough with the shameless self promotion — let’s get onto the finds.
Thank you, as always, for being here ✨
xo,
G
Welcome to “The Dump.”
An end of the month round-up of 40 curated vintage, secondhand, or handmade things I have bookmarked from around the internet that are looking for a new place to call home. No essays — just a collection of items I’ve come across in my treasure hunting adventures. Prices vary from affordable to luxury and span the categories of clothing, accessories, furniture, home goods, decorations, toys, etc etc.
Swoop up the riches, share it with your friends, let it inspire a secondhand hunt of your own and join in on saving something from ending up in “the dump.”
Have you purchased something through seeing it on Trash Panic? Reply to this newsletter and send me a photo of you wearing it/how you’ve styled it/where it lives in your home/etc I would love to see!
