I’m baaaack on this wonderful Wednesday morning and here to harass your inbox with secondhand goodness. I know you were waiting with bated breath as I went on a whirlwind trip last week to find a new town to live in that left both me and my significant other exhausted and more confused than ever about our purpose here on this floating rock hurdling through space. It’s fine. We’re fine. I’m fine.
Anywho! Thanks, as always, for all the festive, enthusiastically wonderful feedback and tales of your personal closet cleaning experiences. I am delighted to know it inspired so many of y’all to take a deep dive into your wardrobe, spring clean, and make new shopping lists and goals for what you want to wear. (My inbox is open if you’re looking for something specific - reply to this newsletter!)
In the spirit of spring cleaning, here’s a curated collection of cool secondhand or handmade things that I thought were totally tubular for making your closet, bathroom, or room and place of dressing and undressing more fabulous and sexy and groovy. Some of them are a little on the wild side (see: $22k coat rack cactus) but hopefully they inspire your next thrift trip or Etsy scroll, etc etc etc.
1950’s Italian Coat Hanger Rack - !!!! If I had a little entryway I didn’t know what to do with, this would be my solution. Also the price is wildly not as expensive as I thought though it does have a hefty shipping fee from Italy.
1950’s Marble Hanging Lamp - Replacing a ceiling light can change your space drastically, so say goodbye to the 90’s nipple light in your bathroom and hello to this cutie patootie marbled art deco vibes pendant.
1960’s Daddy Laundry Bag - Okay, ummm, a laundry bag that says “daddy.” Perfect for when you have to publicly haul your dirties to the laundromat three blocks away.
Mid Century Wall Mirror - The perfect shape and size for a vanity, nook, or empty space in your closet.
1910’s Laundry Bag - Obsessed with the feminine energy this delicates bag is giving. Perfect for making laundry seem like a fun activity and not the absolute worst chore ever created (which it is.)
Vintage Crochet Hangers - Ideal for displaying your favorite things on the back of the closet door or on an exposed clothes rack. The crochet details and colors are so vintage yet perfectly modern.
1970’s Cactus Coat Rack - Is this in anyone’s budget? Likely a hard no, but shit it’s so cool and weird and perfect. There are other color options available that vary in price and coolness.
1970’s Mushroom Earring Holder - I can’t resist a mushroom anything. Is it trendy? Yes. Do I care? No.
Vintage Silver Gucci Tray - Also not budget friendly. But very, very cool.
Vintage Plastic Swivel Container - Perfect for organizing your jewelry, makeup, tiny accessories of all kinds!
1960’s Musical Lipstick Carousel - A MUSICAL LIPSTICK CAROUSEL. That is all.
1960’s Clothes Rack - This mounts onto the wall and would be the perfect way to make a makeshift wardrobe a statement piece in your room. I wish I had thought to do this in one of my many small San Francisco apartments.
Vintage Brass Bow Hooks - Precious little bow hook for your entry or to organize your necklaces or scarves.
Vintage Norman Bel Geddes. Dresser - The color combo on this is *perfection.*
Vintage Cherub Jewelry Stand - Who wouldn’t want to hang their jewelry from a chubby little cherub?
1960’s Ring Tree - Perfect size for a nightstand or small vanity. Take your nice rings off to keep them nice! This is advice I need reminding of.
Handmade Padded Hangers - These are handmade and they remind me of a balloon animal in the best way possible. Would make having visibly hanging clothes look like an art installation!
Vintage Silver Ring Stand - Love the sweet polka dot details.
1940’s Lingerie Laundry Bag - Sexy pinup vibes and I am here for it. Anything to make the activity of doing laundry seem far sexier than it is!
1960’s Space Age Hangers - Another super rad option for having exposed clothes in your space.
Vintage Lucite Clothes Rack - The photo of this clothing rack does not do it justice. It’s like a funky modern valet and would be so cool in a bedroom where space is limited but you want to display or lay out what to wear every day.
Vintage Lucite Hat Stands - Hat stands! Displaying your hats, even if they’re just baseball fits, makes shopping your closet feel more like a store.
Vintage Frederic Weinberg Hat Stand - If you’re feeling extra extra, this vintage hat stand is incredible as an art piece all on its own.
Hopefully this curated collection inspires you to freshen up your dressing up space. I’ll be back to Tues/Thurs posting next week and have some cool things up my sleeve I’m hoping y’all will be excited about… including a maybe sorta kinda rebrand 🤭🤭🤭
Until next time,
xo,
G

maybe we can all chip in on the cactus coat rack and then trade it off in our homes on a rotating six month schedule, sisterhood of the traveling cactus coat rack
