10 Things - Dispatch #007
10 things I've read, loved, watched, wish listed, consumed, etc etc etc
Happy Friday!
It’s been awhile, let’s dive in.
Today is Hobbit Day! The birthdays of both Frodo and Bilbo Baggins, according to the American Tolkien Society (though there’s some classic nerd drama about whether this date is correct given Tolkien’s calendars in the books.) Might I recommend celebrating with some second breakfast, elevenses and perhaps this very vibey ambient world Youtube video on your TV today? I usually FaceTime my niece and nephew today and do Hobbit related school activities, but we’ve decided to postpone the activities to when I visit in person in October. I’m obviously very excited.
This very niche, very early 2000’s reference on a hat - An iykyk moment!! A reference to this Cingular commercial, which became far more quoted than I’m sure anyone in their ad department ever expected. *add to cart*
When I tell you I fell in love with this Minneapolis house while deep in a Zillow hole last week. My heart sunk a little when I saw it go contingent this week even though it backed up to a freeway 💔 I had already restored the whole thing so perfectly in my head, and imagined myself Zou Bisou-ing in it during the holidays….le sigh.
Museum of Lost Memories - If there’s one thing that makes every human emotional, it’s watching old video footage and looking at photos of people we don’t know from a time or place we never experienced. I love the message behind this project, as I often feel this bittersweet nostalgia when I see piles of abandoned memories, sold for just a dollar or two at the antique store. I could spend hours on this instagram!
Vintage Mickey Mouse watches on eBay - Despite how often I’m on Disney property, I’m far from ever being a Disney Adult™️. I do, however, love a good vintage Mickey Mouse moment. I’ve recently been on the hunt for the perfect watch to wear on my Disneyland adventures and eBay is filled with super duper cute ones like this one and this one and this one. I ordered one from a very sweet old man who has sent me approximately 10 messages telling me every step of its journey to my mailbox - I’ll update you once it arrives lol
I pre-ordered the Sofia Coppola Archive book and it has finally arrived. So many coffee table books are lackluster and not worth the inflated price tag for the content you get. This book is worth every penny. If you’re a fan of her work, vision, creative process, and love a good behind-the-scenes, this is for you. It will definitely make you want to watch this scene again.
La Gritona Reposado - *spicy opinion ahead* Despite Kendall being the most tolerable of that family, I hope it’s obvious that there’s really no reason she should be owning a tequila company. And before you go, “what about the Rock? Clooney? Lisa Barlow?!” They also shouldn’t lol. I’m just not sure we need celebrity booze brands, y’all. Enter: La Gritona, a female owned, all female staffed tequila company based in Valle De Guadalupe, Jalisco. Not only is the bottle (recycled glass!) very sexy on a bar cart, it’s also very, very, very, good. Buy it and make this drink with it because it sounds delightful.
Erdem SS24 - I have many opinion on modern fashion week and many of them are very not good but wow, this show was perfection from beginning to end. I will be dreaming about these bedspread/quilted/tablecloth coats and fooling myself into believing I could just whip one up on the sewing machine.
Remember the ancient art of travel agents? Well, they’re back, baby! (Some things are just better when you get to talk to a human.) Especially one as fabulous and filled with top notch expertise like my friend Lindsay!! From Paris, to Vegas, to a teeny tiny wonderful paradise tucked away somewhere remote, Lindsay can help you plan a vacation you probably couldn’t even dream up. She’s got connections to hotel perks, the best hole-in-the-wall restaurants, and the “off the beaten path” adventures you should be going on. I highly recommend scheduling a consultation with her if you’re planning any trips, big or small, in 2024 - and don’t worry, you don’t have to have some crazy nepo baby wealth in order to bask in the luxury of a travel agent. Lindsay is one of the warmest people I have been lucky to get to know this past year and it’s encouraging to see her grow her passion into a successful business. Follow her here to be wow’ed by all the places she’s been booking clients.
And lastly, I’m already in the shimmery, sparkly, fabulous party dress for the holidays kind of mood and I can’t stop thinking about this one! I’d have to hem off like a million inches for my shrimpy body but wowowowow it makes me wish I was actually a social butterfly who had social engagements to attend.
Well, there ya have it!
Until next week,
G
Crying into my latte, thank you sweetest friend! 2024 is the Year of Travel!!!
