Happy Friday, friends!
We did it, Joe. We made it to the weekend. I’m back (it’s short-ish and sweet, I swear) with some vintage goodies from around the internet that a couple of y’all requested via the comments, Instagram DMs, and personal texts. A lot of folks have mentioned just in general that they want to start wearing/incorporating more vintage into their wardrobe but don’t know how to style it to look modern, match what they already own, and feel personal. For this week, I’ve included some inspiration from my Pinterest in hopes it sparks your imagination. Next time, I will show you my face and my wardrobe — eek!
Pants. Specifically, pants that aren’t denim but can look put together even if you work/homeschool/spend the day at home. I love all the above outfits because they aren’t complicated when it comes to the composition of the look — it’s simply the right cut and fit for the top, paired with a playful shoe (and a great bag, if you’re going out.)
(from top left, clockwise)
Drawstring Ankle Tie Pant | $75 - Rawson is known on Etsy for selling curated deadstock military layering pieces - I love the lil drawstring ankle detail on these and they are definitely perfect paired with a Mary Jane.
High-waisted Pleated Plaid Trousers | $38 - I like that these are high waisted. I would personally wear a fitted white tee and boxy cardigan/jacket.
Striped Pajama Pant | $75 - Another Rawson pick - when in doubt, go the pajama route! Perfect paired with clogs or Birkenstocks to feel the socially-acceptable-at-the-grocery-store kind of vibes.
Rust Orange Cords | $62 - Cords are having a resurgence and they’re being styled less preppy and more loungey lazy and I am here for it. See the smoke show that is Oscar Isaac, above, as a reference.
1960’s Hostess Knit Pants | $108 - These are fun and colorful and the print is amazing and will make anything feel like an outfit even if it’s just a sweater or a fun, big, worn in vintage tee.
1940’s Silk Brocade Pajama Pant | $129 - Vintage and luxurious! I love a 40’s silhouette. I would wear these with a fitted cashmere cardigan buttoned all the way up and a loafer.
Next up, a plaid coat. I snuck in some blazer styles here because I think they’re equally as functional for both warmth and a put together lewk.
(from top left, clockwise)
Pendleton Plaid Robe Coat | $78 - This is technically a bath robe but like, it’s Pendleton wool so who cares. I would wrap it with fabric belt for a sophisticated smoking jacket moment.
1960’s Plaid Trench | $80 - Cutie trench that’s perfect for every day wear if you live in a mild climate.
Wool Swing Coat | $222 - This. Is. Gorgeous. Someone please buy it. It’s so classic and a statement piece but also subtle and sophisticated but also so lazily chic.
Tartan Wool Double-breasted Blazer | $28 - The blazer as a mini dress with thick black tights and a heel is a vibe and I am here for it/would wear it to dinner if it weren’t already 85 degrees here in Texas.
Wool Plaid Trench | $160 - Just absolutely classic in every way. You can do so much with this color, print and shape and it’s perfect for almost every season.
Boxy Tartan Blazer | $49 - The colors here are really nice and can pair well with other warm, dreamy neutrals. Sweater, mom jeans, dope wacky statement cowboy boots is the vibe here.
That’s all, friends. Thanks, as always, for reading and liking and commenting and telling me you like the newsletter (and me.) It means a lot.
Until next week,
xo,
G
