Happy Tuesday, friends! And a big ol’ warm hello to all the new faces here - I hope you’re ready to join me on this twirly whirly rollercoaster as I grow this corner of the internet! If you’re reading this realizing you aren’t sure what you signed up for, you can check out my freshly updated about me page, here. I will rewrite it approximately 12 more times in the next week, but the general vibes are there - one day I’ll add a picture of my face. Baby steps, baby steps. I hope in this space you can maybe learn something you didn’t know before, escape the realities of life for five minutes, snort-laugh out loud, or find the perfect little tchotchke that will fit just right in that empty space on your shelf…and that you’ll introduce yourself and join the conversation along the way. In a sea of terrible clickbait articles and emoji replies, I, above all, would love to see this grow into a community of people who like connecting with fellow strangers over creative things and giving old things new life. Like a big virtual book club with the book being my newsletter and lengthy eBay watchlist, or something like that.
While I could easily make yet another gift guide, I realize the weeks of exchanging said gifts are already upon us and there’s a reason why people start sending out their gift guides during Halloween. Instead, I would like to shift focus towards New Year’s Eve - a holiday I am continually confused by because the stakes always feel so high and the result always feels sooo….? But that’s probably because I’ve only recently accepted that I’m an introvert who generally doesn’t like socializing in environments of hundreds of people, $50 door covers, $25 cocktails, and $150 Uber rides home. You will find me in pajamas, fighting to keep my eyes open after two glasses of champagne and the clock striking 9:45pm, clicking between every terrible primetime Times Square show, realizing old age means not recognizing a single pop star lip syncing “Auld Lang Syne” in the frigid cold.
But don’t let my Scrooge attitude fool you! Let me be your ✨ vintage fairy godmother ✨ on your quest to get dressed up and find a festively lit dance floor to ring in the new year. Here is a selection of some of the amazing dressy uppy finds sitting in my Etsy favorites to encourage you to get glitzed and glammed and break free from the overdone Gatsby get-ups. Branch out! Get groovy!

I saw a ThredUp report that mentioned if everyone wore a pre-loved holiday outfit on Christmas Day the CO2 emissions saved would be equivalent to taking 56 million cars off the road for a day. (the hyperlink leads to a similar report - I can’t find this exact fact anywhere but an unverified Instagram post so, meh, take with a grain of salt but the linked report lists a whole lot of other stats about buying used!) Let this be your inspiration to incorporate more secondhand items into your wardrobe this holiday season and beyond! You can seamlessly blend both vintage and modern pieces into your closet and if you stick around here, in 2023 I will be showing you how (and challenging myself to buy maybe only secondhand all year!!)
I’ll be on the clubjunioryear Instagram this week sharing how to style some of the above pieces with modern items so be sure to follow along and ch-ch-check it out. I also realize most of these pieces lean femme presenting, so I’ll also link a few more inclusive options on my Instagram/please leave a comment and let me know what you want to see more of! Suits! Accessories! Jewelry! I’m open and ready to hunt it down!
Sooo tell me- what are you doing for New Year’s Eve? Do you have any traditions, bars you always go to, friends who always host? Tell me in the comments! I am nosy and I want to know/live vicariously through you!
With that, I am wishing you all a very happy holiday, however you celebrate. I’m so very grateful you’re all here following/cheering me on. Sending warmth and comfort to those who need it, and a reminder to reach out to someone if you need a shoulder to lean on. We’re all tiny fragile lil humans trying to figure this weird life thing out!!
Until next week,
xo

p.s. if you’re on the hunt for a Christmas playlist that leans a lil funky, a lil classic, and a lil out there, might I suggest this one:
How’s about a fancy pajama round up? Because I will definitely be ringing in the new year in my pajamas 😆 🥂 ✨
I shall be attending a rave on New Years Eve, so unfortunately I will be wearing all black clothes I can sweat in, but I WILL be wearing a solid chartreuse, loose button-up top and bottom moment that actually does kind of look like fancy pajamas for a Christmas Eve cocktail party haha will definitely send pics
