A One Way Ticket to Flavortown
Friday finds inspired by the spiked hair, bleach blonde icon himself, Guy Fieri.
Happy Friday! Welcome to the first edition of my curated Friday finds - this week we are celebrating the iconic, timeless, punk rock y2k style of the mayor of Flavortown himself, Guy Fieri.
Throughout most of 2020, I found myself addicted to watching CNN for hours on end, searching for some kind of certain comfort in a time that felt so strangely uncertain, hungry for some kind of information that would tell my anxiety it was all going to be okay. Spoiler alert: watching the news just makes you more anxious about how the world around us is a boiling trash can that is falling apart at an alarmingly rapid pace. You will lose your faith in humanity.
Enter: Guy’s Grocery Games.
As easy as it was for me to quit CNN cold turkey, I needed something on the tv to bring life to our house on days when downstairs life felt quiet, the feelings of uncertain anxiety ready to bubble up at any moment. Being the occasional Diners, Drive-Ins, and Dives watcher, I decided to finally sit down and watch Guy’s Grocery Games for the first time in its 27 seasons. I was not disappointed. An avid Top Chef fan, I was happy to see familiar celebrity chef favorites and even more happy to watch insanely over-the-top challenges that were both entertaining, and inspiring as someone looking to expand my own culinary knowledge. I have now made my way through watching at least 75% of the now 30 seasons available on Hulu.
For as memeable and occasional butt-of-the-joke-able as Fieri has seemingly been in his tenure as a pop culture icon of the 21st century, I personally find him to be a triple threat of insane culinary talent, timeless stylish steez, and an absolutely philanthropic rockstar.
His commitment to the ever recognizable bleached spikey hair, chain necklaces, flame shirts, leather jackets and Oakley sunglasses is something that has influenced everyone from the Paris runways to well, basic boring surburbia.
Without further ado, my fun internet finds if you’re looking to add some 🔥flavor🔥 to your wardrobe.

Thanks for tuning in! If you’re curious how to style any of these things to feel fresh and hip and less y2k/food network celebrity, check out my “style” board on Pinterest for inspiration or shoot me a message! Getting dressed should be about having fun and I can’t think of anything more fun than rocking flames, chains, and leather.
Personally, I will be buying an oversized shirt from Guy’s official merch store and just pulled the trigger on a vintage flame shirt so stay tuned for how I style them because I *will* be wearing them.
Until next week!
